Instructions: Only your name and e-mail address are required.

Petition Goal: To collect a minimum of 10,000,000 signatures from grassroots Americans nationwide to send a loud and clear message to U.S. Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer to publicly commit to a U.S. Senate confirmation vote on President-elect Trump’s Supreme Court nominee free of filibuster threats and no later than 30 days after the President-elect makes the nominee official.

Petition for Confirmation Vote

TO: U.S. Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer

WHEREAS: On the November 20, 2016, edition of Fox News Sunday, you told a national TV audience that President-elect Trump must name a “mainstream” nominee to fill the current vacancy on the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS), and

WHEREAS: During this same Fox News Sunday appearance, you warned President-elect Trump that if his SCOTUS nominee does not meet your definition of mainstream, “we’re going to fight that nominee tooth and nail,” and

WHEREAS: You have refused to rule out the use of a filibuster to delay and possibly derail altogether the Trump nominee to fill the SCOTUS vacancy, and

WHEREAS: You accused Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell last year of “obstructionism” for refusing to hold hearings on President Obama’s SCOTUS nominee to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia, but your threats in the media to oppose Trump’s nominee “with everything we have,” indicate your blatant hypocrisy, and

WHEREAS: President-elect Trump’s SCOTUS nominee deserves the same level of fair treatment in the confirmation process that you demanded for President Obama’s SCOTUS nominee last year.

THEREFORE: I petition you as U.S. Senate Minority Leader to halt any attempt by U.S. Senate Democrats to filibuster President-elect Trump’s nominee to fill the SCOTUS vacancy and furthermore to allow a confirmation vote on the Trump nominee no later than 30 days following the President-elect’s placing a name in nomination.

Respectfully,
