Repeating and expanding the methods that had worked so well for FedUp PAC in 2016, the focus was on using the internet to target key groups in swing states and districts with an effective message. FedUp PAC warned voters that the Democrat Party has become increasingly radical, socialist, and even violent. It is a party that cannot be trusted with power, which it would use to reverse the results of the 2016 election and wipe out all the progress of the past two years.
Two websites were central to this effort. One emphasized the need to nationalize the election regarding issues that exposed the Democrats’ radicalism (illegal aliens, gun bans, taxes, etc.) The other, aimed at Catholics (one of the most vital groups of swing voters), highlighted the increasing anti-Catholic bigotry of Democrats.
Websites, however, are too passive to have the necessary influence. FedUp PAC reached out aggressively to contact our targeted voters via email and social media. A series of six videos provided a vivid picture of the dangers of Democrat control of Congress, using the Democrats’ own words and showing the mob activity, including outright violence, which is becoming common. The videos were an especially powerful weapon, as many recipients forwarded them to friends, multiplying their effect. [Follow this link to see the 2018 FedUp PAC videos.]
The disgraceful Democrat attempt to smear Brett Kavanaugh gave FedUp PAC another opportunity to remind voters why Democrats had become too irresponsible to entrust with government authority, and videos especially for that issue were prepared and distributed.
The campaign activity peaked in the final week before the election, flooding the targeted seven states and 30 house districts with the warning about the danger of electing radical Democrats. This appears to have been effective, with most of the Senate candidates performing substantially better than the final Real Clear Politics (RCP) polling average indicated. In Indiana, polling showed Mike Braun trailing by 1.3% but he won by 7.2%. Missouri’s Josh Hawley was leading by only 0.6%, but he won by 6%. Rick Scott in Florida was down by 2.4% but won by 0.4%.
FedUp PAC helped the GOP win four hotly-contested Senate seats (none of which was rated better than “toss-up”) and at least 15 of the House seats Democrats expected to pick up. In the Senate, those four seats are the difference between solid Republican control and continued reliance on “moderates” such as Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski. In the House, holding 15 seats makes it close enough that Democrats will have difficulty passing their most radical legislation, and gives the GOP a good chance to retake the House in 2020. In fact, Democrats have their smallest House majority since 1942, and about 30 seats less than when Obama was first elected.
Despite the Democrats’ claims of a great “wave” election, their success pales beside the genuine Republican waves of 1994 and 2010. The GOP picked up 54 House and 8 Senate seats, and 63 House and 6 Senate seats respectively in those years. Both were followed by an extended period during which Republicans retained the control they had achieved. Democrats, on the other hand, will have difficulty holding the House and winning the Senate in 2020.
Democrats wanted an election that would be a repudiation of President Trump, just as Clinton and Obama were clearly repudiated by the huge Republican victories. Instead, Democrats got only a fairly typical midterm win in the House and a humiliating defeat in the Senate. If any Republican leader was repudiated, it was House Speaker Paul Ryan, whose timid leadership left many GOP congressman vulnerable to complaints that the House had not followed through on campaign promises.
However, while FedUp PAC is glad to have played such a key role in holding back the Democrats this year, this is no time to rest on our laurels.
There will be special elections in 2019, and we may be able to chip away at the small Democrat majority in the House.
That means raising money right now so that we can be ready to act immediately when an opportunity presents itself.
To win, FedUp PAC must have your help. We could not have been so successful in 2016 and 2018 without the support of people just like you.
We know how to use the latest technology to target the voters who will swing the elections. This program of voter contact by email, FaceBook, etc. is relatively cheap, and highly cost-effective (especially compared to expensive TV spots seen mostly by non-voters and confirmed liberals), but it is not free.
That is why your donation of $25, $100, $500, $1,000 or more to FedUp PAC is needed today – so that we can begin winning over voters as soon as a special election is announced.
With your help, we can make 2019 a year that moves us back toward control of the House, and perhaps adds to our Senate majority.
So please, send your best donation of $25, $100, $500, $1,000 or whatever you can afford.
We must not allow the Democrats to move ahead with their plans for a radical, socialist America.
