Conservatives feel betrayed by Republican insiders and want the party to nominate someone outside the party’s establishment according to a poll by FedUp PAC.  Nominating an outsider is favored by 76%, while 71% express agreement with the one-half of Republicans in the New Hampshire exit poll who said the Republican Party had betrayed them.

            A major worry for conservatives is that having conservatives divided between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz might allow an establishment candidate to win with a “divide and conquer” strategy.  Of those taking the poll, 32% are “very concerned” and another 29% “somewhat concerned” about this possibility.  Uniting behind one candidate, either Trump or Cruz, has 57% support.

            Conservatives are not impressed by John Kasich’s second-place finish in New Hampshire.  Only 21% believe he can claim this as any kind of victory, and only 9% see him as the favorite in South Carolina.  Trump is expected by 51% to carry South Carolina, while 21% say Cruz will come in first.
