Last weekend’s government shutdown took place even though a majority in both the House and Senate voted to keep the government going. Senate Democrats used a filibuster, which can only be overcome by 60 votes, to shut down the government.
President Trump has said that keeping the government operating is vital, and should not be subject to filibuster by a minority. Should the Senate vote to exempt funding bills from the filibuster?
