Congressional Democrats and Democratic candidates for Congress are talking openly about impeaching President Trump if they win control of the House in November. The U.S. Constitution states that a president can only be impeached for "Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors." However, some Democrats appear determined to proceed with impeachment despite the lack of evidence for impeachable offenses. One Democrat, Rep. Al Green, has introduced impeachment resolutions declaring that Trump can be impeached merely for making statements Democrats find offensive.
If voters give Democrats a majority in the House, would the impeachment process be a kangaroo court in which Democrats ignore the Constitution, the facts, and the evidence, and vote to impeach Trump simply because they want to overturn the 2016 election?
