Democrats have been establishing "sanctuary cities" and even "sanctuary states", in which they use the power of government to protect illegal aliens from deportation by the Federal government. They have received the protection of Federal judges who have overturned efforts by the Trump administration to withhold Federal funds as a punishment for sanctuary policies. A new Federal law, such as the one supported by President Trump and many Republicans in Congress, would make it impossible for judges to continue these rulings.
