Conservatives do not trust House Speaker Paul Ryan to manage any bill that deals with the DACA amnesty, fearing that he will cooperate with Democrat leaders Nancy Pelosi and Charles Schumer, according to a poll by FedUp PAC.

            Almost 97% say that Ryan “will let Pelosi and the Democrats write the bill, then give it his support.”  Only one-half of one percent believe that Ryan can be trusted.

            Pelosi and Schumer announced on September 13 that they had reached an agreement with Trump that would provide amnesty and a path to citizenship for illegal aliens covered by DACA, while making no significant concessions themselves.  Trump has denied their description of the conversation, but some establishment Republicans have seemed eager to finalize a deal on the Democrats’ terms.

            Ryan was elected speaker only after promising that he would not bring up legislation related to immigration and amnesty unless it was supported by a majority of House Republicans.  Given the large number of pro-amnesty establishment Republicans in the House, Ryan might use threats and promises of rewards to win over enough GOP members to build a majority.  If that fails, he might simply break his promise.  Conservatives clearly have no faith in him, and members of Congress are hearing opposition to any DACA deal from the grass roots.  Those who vote for DACA may face a primary opponent in 2018.
