More than 2,000 conservatives have signed a FedUp PAC petition calling on President Trump to support the immediate repeal of ObamaCare.
Trump has said that he would begin executive action to repeal the law on his first day in office, and he has pointed out that ObamaCare is already about to “fall of its own weight”.
Trump is right. With insurance companies pulling out of the ObamaCare exchanges, Americans are finding that they have few options. Increased premiums and deductibles are pricing many out of the health insurance market. Millions have already lost the policies that they were promised they could keep, and some have had to give up the doctors they had learned to trust.
Republicans in Congress should recognize that ObamaCare is, as Trump said, a “disaster”. They should move to repeal it as quickly as possible to end the damage it has done.
But instead, establishment Republicans are allowing themselves to be intimidated by pro-ObamaCare liberals. They seem to think that ObamaCare has been a good thing, and should remain in place until Republicans are ready to replace it with something that even liberals will admit is better. That, of course, will never happen. Whatever replacement may be offered by Republicans, liberals will insist that ObamaCare is better and will denounce Republicans for being heartless and uncaring.
Republicans need to go on the offensive. They must never stop pointing to the damage done by ObamaCare. They must remind voters that Obama and his fellow liberal Democrats did this to them. And establishment Republicans who are afraid to defy the liberal Democrats must hear from their voters back home that this is not time for delay – this is the time for repeal. That is why voters elected President Trump and a Republican Congress.
