Conservatives say that reporters should reveal their sources in the case of illegal leaks of classified information, and should be jailed for contempt if they fail to do so, according to a poll by FedUp PAC.

Such forceful action to prevent illegal leaks is supported by 97%.

Anti-Trump government employees have been leaking, since Trump was elected, anything that might be interpreted unfavorably toward the president, including classified information. Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly recently told Chuck Todd of NBC that some of the leaks are “borderline, if not over the line, of treason.”

When the Bush administration was suspected (falsely, it turned out) of leaking classified information about a CIA employee, Judith Miller of The New York Times was jailed for refusing to identify her sources. She was released only when she changed her mind. The same measures which were used when they were expected to harm President Bush should now be used when they may help President Trump. Conservatives see anything less as partisan hypocrisy.
