Conservatives believe that President Trump will need to keep an eye on Congress, and will not be able to trust its members to help him “drain the swamp,” according to a poll by FedUp PAC.
Following Trump’s rebuke of the House of Representatives for attempting to weaken its ethics office, 99% of those responding said that Trump must watch Congress and “speak out in warning when he sees them slipping back into the old Washington way of doing business.”
Some members of Congress have already been scheming to bring back “earmarks,” which allowed powerful members of Congress to require that money be spent on pork barrel projects in their state or district. Many Republicans have also been dragging their feet on the repeal of ObamaCare. Term limits for Congress, an important campaign issue for Trump, has yet to make any headway.
All these matters give conservatives reason to expect much foot-dragging by establishment Republicans during the next four years.
FedUp PAC is a grass roots organization that wants constitutional conservatives to take over the GOP because Americans are fed up with the Republican establishment. It is not affiliated with any candidate or committee.
