FedUp PAC StaffConservatives Want Paul Ryan Out if Amnesty Passes House

Conservatives will hold Speaker Paul Ryan responsible if Democrats push an amnesty bill through the House and will demand his removal, according to a poll by FedUp PAC.

Almost 95% say that Ryan should be deposed as speaker and replaced by someone President Trump can trust if Democrats succeed in passing their preferred DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) amnesty.  President Trump, after announcing the end of Obama’s unconstitutional DACA, has offered a compromise that would write DACA into law while also improving border security and reforming the legal immigration system.  Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) has introduced a bill that embodies Trump’s plan.

However, Democrats have declared strong opposition to Trump on the issue.  Some have insisted they want a legalized DACA with no strings attached, while others have been willing to make only minor concessions (such as studying the possibility of a border wall).  Democrats have been joined by pro-amnesty Republicans, and the Goodlatte bill does not yet have enough support to pass the Republican-controlled House.

Ryan promised, before his election as speaker, that he would not bring to the floor any bill on immigration unless it was supported by a majority of House Republicans.  That should guarantee that the Democrats cannot get a vote on any of their bills.  However, Ryan may break that promise and bring up a bill supported by all Democrats and a few Republicans.  According to Washington rumors, the excuse would be that only a Democratic bill could pass the Senate.

Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC), chairman of the Freedom Caucus, has warned that he will move to remove the Speaker if Ryan chooses such a course.  It was just such a motion that caused former Speaker John Boehner to resign before he could be formally booted from the chair.
